Chamber offers area High School Seniors scholarship opportunity
The Rockford Chamber of Commerce (RCC) wants to promote education in the local area. Each year the chamber offers area students the opportunity to vie for a $1,000 scholarship to further their education. The scholarship award may be used for public, private or community colleges, universities and specialized schools or training programs directly following the student’s graduation from high school.
To apply for the scholarship a student must do the following:
- Complete the RCC Scholarship Application Form.
- A letter of reference from a high school administrator, coach, teacher, instructor, or Rockford Chamber of Commerce member. This is limited to a one page, typed double-spaced or hand printed document with a signature.
- A response to the essay theme “How have the values of your Community affected your personal view of life, and what are the most important values a Community should exemplify?” This response must be submitted in a two-page, double-spaced or hand printed format.

Completed applications and essays must be received at the Chamber Office no later than midnight Friday, February 19, 2016.
The RCC Scholarship winner will be notified by March 11, 2016 and announced at the Rockford 12th Annual Community EXPO Saturday, March 19, 2016, with the winner invited to accept the award on stage. A certificate will be presented to the winner by a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce board at their high school honors convocation.
