Chamber offers area High School Senior scholarship Opportunity
The Rockford Chamber of Commerce (RCC) wants to promote eduacation in the local area. Each year the chamber offers area students the opportunity to vie for a $1,000 scholarship to further their education. The scholarship award may be used for public, private or community collects, universities and specialized schools or training programs directly following the student’s graduation from high school.
To apply for the scholarship a student must do the following:
- Complete the RCC Scholarship Application, (click 2015ScholarshipApplicationForm)
- A letter of reference from a high school administrator, coach, teacher, instructor, or Rockford Chamber of Commerce member. This is limited to one page, typed double-spaced or and printed document with a signature.
- A response to the essay theme “In a world where violence and threatening behavior have become commonplace, how can communities assure a feeling of safety and how do they prepare its youth for such a world?” This response must be submitted in a two-page, double-spaced or hand printed format.

The RCC Scholarship winner will be notified by March 13, 2015 and announced at the Rockford 11th Annual Community EXPO Saturday, March 21, 2015, with the winner invited to accept the award on stage. A certificate will be presented to the winner by a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce board at their high schools honors convocation.
