Rockford Ice Festival scheduled for February!

The 5th Annual Rockford Ice Festival is scheduled for February 7 & 8, 2014. This exciting event delights thousands every year in downtown Rockford. The schedule is set for 2014, and is even bigger than 2013. This amazing event features LIVE ice carving by the Ice Guru organization, featuring the talents of Randy Finch of the Food Network’s Ice Brigade.

On Friday, February 8th the ice sculptures will be placed in the downtown district. There will be a special Opening Ceremony, scheduled for 6 p.m., with music, speeches and a special surprise. The Rockford Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring FREE carriage rides on Friday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with the beautiful horses and carriages from Grand Carriages, LLC.

Each year, picturesque downtown Rockford is transformed into a vision of ice, offering winter wonderland fun for folks of all ages and stages, and this year will be no different. Just imagine chain saw wielding ice carvers transposing huge blocks of ice into amazing sculptures…9 holes of miniature ice golf…interactive ice games …snowman building…a scavenger hunt throughout the town to locate dozens of ice sculptures…free hot cocoa…photography contest…music & entertainment…an Ice Bowl Dance…a chili cook off…watch participants take a dip in the icy waters of the Rogue River during Rockford Rotary’s Sweetheart Splash…and THOUSANDS of guests discovering the enchantment of downtown Rockford during Rockford’s Ice Festival.

To close the event, the Rockford Area Arts Commission will be hosting its Third Annual Snow Ball dance. The event takes place at Thousand Oaks Golf Club from 6-11 p.m on Saturday, Feb. 8. This wonderful event will give you a chance to celebrate a special Valentine’s date with the love of your life, with delicious food, live entertainment and dancing. The 5th Annual Ice Festival promises to be BIGGER and BETTER than last year – which is not an easy act to follow. Last year’s festival drew more than 10,000 and was highlighted nationally!
